Mariya is the a proud, vivacious mom of two amazing kids, a 7 year old daughter and a 3 year old son. She began kickboxing in April of 2013, about 7 months after the birth of her son. She was overweight, had a bad temper, was suffering from postpartum depression and desperately needed to get out of the house. She admits she doesn’t do well at gyms – they bore her, and she doesn’t understand half of the machines. She found kickboxing to be a healthy outlet for her to manage stress and boost her strength, allowing her to take on the hardest job – being a mom! She can completely relate to what other women go through, “I understand that it’s not easy trying to reach a goal. The things worth fighting for in life don’t come easy. I enjoy helping others obtain their goal, and my kickboxing style keeps it fun!” In addition to being a Mom, teaching kickboxing and core and working a second job, Mariya is also a full-time Massage Therapy student.

As a young man, Don was an army ranger, and did two tours in Vietnam. But by 50, Don had no strength and was out of shape, so he began martial arts for fitness. He quickly realized martial arts was a lifestyle and embraced it wholeheartedly. Today, he is a 3rd Dan in Isshinryu Karate (an Okinawan style), and teaches Lohan Qigong here, which he learned from Sifu Brian. Don enjoys helping people learn and feels he learns faster by helping others. He also knows Brocade Qigong and plans on learning 2 or 3 more styles to see which are the best to practice to stay in good health as we age, and looks forward to sharing his learning with his students.
